I am reluctant to admit but today’s blog was inspired by a post on social media. Aagghh! There I said it. It was an unscientific poll on the CF Masters page as to whether it is harder to follow a healthful diet or a regular and meaningful exercise/workout routine. I had to think hard about my answer, given that I am fairly exercise-driven but I was trying to think in terms of people who are not wired quite the same way as me.
In the poll, diet came out by far in the lead as being harder to follow than exercise/workout routine. But there were a few who opted for workout/exercise being more difficult. There were numerous comments, one of which said, (I’m paraphrasing) diet is harder to follow; for workouts you only have to make one choice – turn up – whereas diet is full of choices and it is so easy to take the unhealthful options.

Pre-teens warm up outside in the warm sunshine.
There are lots of diets, workout schedules, advice and criticism out there on the internet but unfortunately, one-size does not fit all. Both food and exercise are very personal (just like shoe fit discussed last week).
So what can we do to make it less stressful/easier to regularly make good food choices for a more healthful diet and help people to get on a regular beneficial exercise/workout routine for more meaningful movement? Whatever it is, it will be a challenge!

This week’s tasty dish: Brussels Sprouts Hash Delish.com Lena Abraham
“Brussels sprouts are the perfect vegetable. They are amazing roasted, go great with mac and cheese, and now they make up the best low-carb hash. We keep falling more and more in love.”
I know what we are having for dinner tonight. No, not mac and cheese. Sprouts … hmmm, Yum!
Today’s Fun/Trivia: Truth: You can’t out-exercise bad food choices. Conversely, you can’t over-egg good-food-choices to compensate for bad exercise choices.
If you would like to come and hang out at the gym on Friday 3 May around 6pm for a chat and socialize, we will be in the parking lot (weather permitting). Bring a dish and your own BYOB if you wish. Paul and I will be home and would love to meet up.
