Shoes. We all have our favorite brands and styles and have gone through the tedious process of finding the ones that best fit our feet for a particular job. Hands up if you have ever bought a new pair of shoes that don’t quite fit but ‘we like the look of them and they will probably stretch out’ only to find that they didn’t and ended up an expensive mistake. I know I have on several occasions, even workout shoes; usually because the price was right. And we know that if our shoes don’t feel right, nothing else does.

OK, so why am I writing about shoes? Well, several reasons.

If you follow the CrossFit Games, this past week, Greg Glassman announced that Games’ athletes will no longer be required to wear Reebok shoes; they will be allowed to wear the shoes they use for training; the shoes they have used for the years it has taken to get to the top level of the sport. Personally, I always thought it was a really odd rule. (Morning Chalk Up)

The Pittsburgh Marathon, Half and Relay are fast approaching. If you need new shoes for the race, don’t buy them at the Expo, even if you buy the exact same brand, size and style as the ones in which you have done all your training. The new ones might fit just ever so slightly differently and this will reek havoc on your feet during the race. You should have at least the distance of your race on the new shoes before you use them in the race. (Good luck to those who are running.)

Flip-flop weather is fast approaching (we hope). I don’t want to put a damper on flip-flops but if you suffer from heel pain through to plantar fasciitis, take a few minutes to click the link and read the article. It will give you some insight as to how you could help your poor feet. (Flip-Flops: Fashionable But Functionally Flawed : By Justin F. Shroyer, PhD, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, and Wendi H. Weimar PhD)

The shoes won’t magically make you do DUBs but the Rx SmartGear Jump Rope Clinic will. See details below for link to sign up.
