Strength, aka weight or resistance training – make it preventative – the final (but by no means least) area of fitness integrated into CrossFit methodology for improving quality of life, health, wellness and fitness.

Ask a friend about strength training and more than likely they will talk about body building/sculpting. Or Olympic lifting will come up.

But for most of us, that’s not really what we are looking for. What we need is the strength to climb the stairs, carry our infants/fur babies, run after same, move furniture, paint walls, be able to carry out our daily tasks without straining and injuring ourselves.

By working on strengthening all our muscles, we protect all our joints. And our bones have to adapt to withstand the increased loads ie become stronger.

“Maintaining strong muscles through weight training helps to keep up your balance and coordination — a critical element in preventing falls, which can lead to osteoporosis-related fractures.”  (Women And Weight Training For Women : Strength Training Can Help Prevent Bone Loss by Gina Shaw)

So, do yourself a favor, don’t wait until your strength training is remedial; start now and make it preventative. Jump on the band wagon of something you know will be good for you. And you can start FREE

T2 Team Opens Results (from Coach Paul Sebastian)

Overall: Team Black; Green; Orange; Red

Right from the first week Team Black asserted their spot as the top team with the other 3 fighting for 2nd, 3rd and 4th each week.

In the end it came down to Team Black taking the win overall with Team Green 2nd, Team Orange 3rd and Team Red 4th

This was a great success and everyone did an amazing job.  Can’t wait to do this in October.

Congratulations to everyone. You survived the Opens. I am sure everyone has a really long list of movements they need to improve. I bet most of the improvements will come from increased STRENGTH. Talk to your coaches about your goals and they will help you with exercises to strengthen your weaknesses.

As Coach Paul says, it all happens again in October.
