T2 CrossFit Athlete Of The Month : Brianna Sharkady

  1. Tell Us About yourself:  Brianna Sharkady, I am 25 years old. I grew up in Cecil, Pa on the family farm, I recently got married last year and we are currently in the process of finishing building our first house. 
  1. How would your best friends describe you? Funny, goofy, kind, supportive, and never on time. 
  1. What is one thing that people find surprising about you? I am a Disney Freak.  
  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? Since April 2018
  1. What made you start CrossFit? Thought about doing it for a while and finally decided to do it.  Plus it looked really fun. I also wanted to push myself mentally and physically to the next level. I have always been somewhat athletic but I knew that CrossFit would definitely be a challenge. 
  1. What is your favorite thing about CrossFit? The community. I have made many new friends and I love coming to class to workout with those people. I have never enjoyed coming to a gym as much as I love coming to this one!
  1. What is your favorite movement?  Before I started CrossFit it was probably a squat but now, I really like the squat clean. 
  1. What is your least favorite movement? I don’t think I have a least favorite movement. I like them all now! 
  1. What is your biggest accomplishment to date both CrossFit related and non-CrossFit related? Getting handstand push-ups and feeling comfortable with overhead movements. I think also overall getting stronger and noticing a difference in the way I look. 
  1. What is your next goal? To get a pull up and to get better at running. 
  1. What is your favorite WOD you have done so far? I can’t think of anything specific, but I love WOD’s with any heavy weights.

For Brianna to lift her heavy weights, she needs to develop POWER.

power noun (STRENGTH)

[ U ] physical strength or force: he lifts the barbell with a lot of power. 

power noun (ENERGY)

physics [ U ] Power is also the rate at which work is done or at which energy is produced, measured in watts: think rower or bike.

power verb (STRENGTH)

[ I usually + adv/prep ] to act with great strength or in a forceful way: she powered through the toes-to-bar and finished within the time cap.

Whichever definition you choose, Power is developed with care and attention to detail, and over a period of time.

T2 Kids, Preteens & Teens: have been practicing and working really hard on their toes-to-bar. They were excited to put that practice to the test during 19.2. They were also amazed at how hard it is to do toes-to-bar (or a scaled version) during a WOD.
