T2 CrossFit’s Athlete Of The Month (November) – Scott O’Neal

1.     Tell Us About yourself: I am 38 and from Beckley, W V. I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for 15 years. I am an obsessive compulsive Notre Dame fan. And I’ve been a ballroom dancer for about 10 years.

2.     How would your best friends describe you? Outgoing, goofy, loyal, and one hell of a good time.

3.     What is one thing that people find surprising about you? That I am bilingual. *Spanish*

4.     How long have you been doing CrossFit? 8 months.

5.     What made you start CrossFit? L.A. Fitness and the gym at work weren’t giving me the results I desired. Everyone bad mouthed CrossFit, however, everyone I saw who did it was in great shape. So, clearly, the

CrossFit people knew something the others didn’t. I inquired about it to Ann Talarico…she highly recommended it and T2 and the rest, as they say, is history.

6.     What is your favorite thing about CrossFit? Honestly, the people. I love the people and all my friends. Workout-wise, I love that it’s always different and its intensity. I also love the respectful competition. I’m super

7.     What is your favorite movement? My top 3 are: skin the cat, box jumps, and running. Mainly because I can do all 3. My favorite that I can somewhat do and am not terrible at are handstand push ups. I also dig Turkish get ups.

8.     What is your least favorite movement? Probably squat snatches ‘cause I am atrocious at them. I’m really awful at anything with the bar.

9.     What is your biggest accomplishment to date both CrossFit related and non-CrossFit related? CrossFit related would going from zero experience in CrossFit to beating Miller on a consistent basis.

Non-CrossFit related, beating depression. (Yeah, I know….who woulda thought!?)

10. What is your next goal? CrossFit related would be to become proficient at dubs in the WOD, perfecting my form with the bar in all movements, and perfecting the kipping in pull ups, T2B, etc.

11. What is your favorite WOD you have done so far? The one we did outside on Friday before Girls Gone Rx where we had to lunge like 160 m and broad jump 320 m.

12. Free write: I just want to thank Anna, Brad, Paul, Christian, Matt, Nicole, Dana, Jax, Michelle and all the coaches for all they’ve done for me. I especially want to thank all my friends who don’t get paid to do this who have gone way out of their way to help me get better and show me what to do. I can’t express to all of you how appreciative I am of your advice, help, and time. Special thanks to 7pm stalwart Coach Paul. And very special shout outs to my honorary CrossFit coaches Miller, SPM, Cliff, Ki, Stevie, Leah, Baby Matt, and myriad others who help me. Thank you all!

Congratulations Scott. Keep up the hard work.

*Outside The Box:

***From: Kristen DiNardo.  :   Hi Everyone!

Because you all are always so selfless, I thought I would send out a request.

I am a member of March of Dimes, and we are coordinating our annual “Chef’s Auction” event to raise funds for our mission. It includes a few large wine baskets for auction, so I wanted to see if anyone was able to donate a bottle or two of wine!

I’m looking for 15 bottles or so, and will be putting a box up to collect the donations first thing Monday morning. Thank you in advance, and hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! ❤️

(Deadline is Tuesday evening, 6th November; if you can help, it will be much appreciated.)

***Congratulations to Cliff, Christian and Corinna on their great efforts at Fall Brawl.

Looks like it was a lot of fun. (Photos: Wade Roth Photography)

Grocery bags: still collecting, still making mats, see the one at the gym.
