July Athletes of the Month (a twofer):  Chris Rossi and Carrie Leasure

1. Tell Us About yourself:

Chris: I live in Monongahela, have 2 kids, 3 grandkids and work as a secretary/office manager at a law firm in Bridgeville

Carrie: I have 2 kids. Isaiah and Evelyn and they both do CrossFit along with my hubby.  Amy Jo gave us a chicken coop so now we have 7 chickens for fresh eggs everyday.  And at this point, who doesn’t know that we have a skunk!  We also have a goldendoodle, Anaheim.

2. How would your best friends describe you?

Chris: Hard working, thoughtful

Carrie: I don’t know; you’d have to ask them

3. What is one thing that people find surprising about you?

Chris: That someone actually called me an “athlete”!

Carrie: That I’m Athlete of the Month!

4. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Chris: 2 years

Carrie: About 1.5 yrs

5. What made you start CrossFit?

Chris: T2 is a minute from my office.  I had never even heard of CrossFit before, saw the sign and stopped in to check it out.  At first I was super intimidated but kept coming back and it wasn’t long before I was hooked.

Carrie:  Jer dragged me in for the first time, I used to do spin classes only.

6. What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

Chris: Variety of the workouts, the constant motivation to improve, even at the things you hate doing

Carrie: Friends that keep you accountable, Chris and Paty making me wake up on my day off!  I do notice changes in my arms, definitely a plus!

7. What is your favorite movement?

Chris: Clean and jerk

Carrie: HSPU

8. What is your least favorite?

Chris: OHS

Carrie: Dubs, can’t do them, they’re impossible.

9. What is your biggest accomplishment to date both CrossFit related and non-CrossFit related?

Chris:  CrossFit related – dubs; non-CrossFit my kids

Carrie:  I’m working on dips and and T2B currently. Non CrossFit related – Eddie is training us for a tough mudder, and I’m getting better at hill running….. ( I hope, prob not )

10. What is your next goal?

Chris: Toes to bar

Carrie:  DUBS

11. What is your favorite WOD you have done so far?

Chris:  Any one that is an AMRAP

Carrie: None

12. Free write:

Chris:  Thank you to the coaches and everyone in the 6:30 am class for the motivation every morning, my friends all think I am crazy but it is hard to explain the community atmosphere that T2 provides that makes waking up at 4:30 am to workout one of the best parts of my day.  Also thanks to Carrie for the extra (actually relentless) push she gives me to work a little harder than I think I am capable of.

Carrie: I love riding on our Harley, or our quad. I have my own dirt bike and at least since I started CrossFit I can pick it up easier when I drop it a hundred times.

10:30am Members’ WOD

Congratulations to all who achieved 1 rep max lifts this week. Small or large PR – it’s still a PR. Whether an inch or a mile, it’s still a win.

Make sure you keep hydrated in the heat. Discuss: warm or cold water?

Outside the Box’:

Congratulations to Sarah Warman and Baby Luke on completion of their first 5K together – Firecracker 5K. And Sarah beat her time from last year when she wasn’t pushing a stroller.

Congratulations to everyone else who participated in races, survived the 4th July WOD, visited other boxes or just made up their own workout for the day.

Use the #t2crossfit hashtag with your IG photos from outside the box to share inside the box.

Please let me know if you have any events coming up that you would like to share. They don’t have to be for charity. It can be just for yourself. Our T2 community loves to live vicariously through others.
