Wow! So much controversy about the fairness, or otherwise, of the new handstand push up standard. I have read lots of comments. The one I think that resonates most though was one that went something like , “… maybe before we were not training to a high enough standard”. Yes I agree that it seems as though the goal posts keep moving and narrowing down the ‘wiggle room’ but really it’s happening because some people keep pushing the boundaries. (My opinion.)

Hand release handstand push ups – taking hand release push ups to the extreme

Whether you were doing handstand push ups, regular strict hand release push ups or knee strict hand release push ups, it was a struggle (no worms allowed). Congratulations to those who got them. Something to work on for others.

And I do know that some people PR’d their deadlifts during the workout. Congrats to them too.

As to 18.5 … three choices – if you don’t vote, you can’t complain.

Thank you again to Wade Roth for his usual high standard of photographs. He posts the link in the T2 Members’ Discussion Group. (T2 members, if you are on Facebook and are not a member of this group, friend me and I will add you.)

We also had a visit from Chris Nolan, MetconPhotos. Chris often has photos accepted by CrossFit and CrossFit Games. The Facebook page has one of his pictures as their cover photo at the moment, featuring our own Paul Ferdiani and Ed Hurley.

18.5, the final 2018 Open workout will be announced this evening and once again we will be holding Friday Night Lights beginning around 4:15.

There will be a little recovery food, provided by Girl Friday Cooking, and if you would like to bring a little something to share, the theme is “And That’s A Wrap”. All varieties of food are welcome – preferably finger-friendly. There will be plates and paper towels/napkins and limited cutlery. Thank you.

Good luck. Have fun with 18.5. Embrace the community support.

T2 Apparel: we want to clear our shelves to make room for some new colors and designs, so we will be having a ‘sale’ of T2 clothing on Friday evening.

Going back to the subject of food, Saturday 7 April, T2 is hosting the Culinary Ninja workshop. It is open to anyone; please mention the course to your friends. The more the merrier.

The workshop is not about CrossFit and exercise and keeping fit. It is about food – changing your food choices to a sustainable, more healthful way of eating. It helps you to understand what different foods do to you (good and bad) and how to balance out your eating so that you don’t get the highs and lows, bursts of energy and subsequent crashes. Although it is presented by Paleo Nick, it could be applied to other “types of diet” eg Primal, Vegetarian, Gluten Free.

It is almost a full day of instruction, discussion, and my favorite part, cooking. Not only do you learn about clean eating, you also get to cook and take some deliciously tasting food home with you.

Sign up here: for a great day well spent.

And here is a little extra food for thought: “The study, published Wednesday in the medical journal Neurology, found that women with high cardiovascular fitness, or high stamina, had an 88% lower risk of dementia than women who were moderately fit.”

Saturday 9:00am Free Adult Community Class – open to members and non-members alike, all skill levels (none to expert) welcome and encouraged. A little hesitant? Come with a friend.

10:30am Members’ Only WOD These are a lot of fun. Meet members whom you wouldn’t normally see. Workout with a partner or in teams of 3. And don’t worry, as always movements are modifiable and scaleable.

Schedule for Friday, 30 March 2018 is as normal, 5:30;6:30;9:00am, 12:10;4:00;5:00;6:00pm

Be safe. Stay warm. See you Friday. Give it your all.

Footnote: As I haven’t written a “Boating With Dogs” blog since being home, Paul and I are 2 : 2 in the Opens. It all comes down to the wire on Friday.
