Outside The Box

By May 12, 2017 No Comments

One our members gained a promotion … no, not at the box from scaled to Rx but in her job. Dr Jen Hinds was promoted recently and it is all very exciting. She is now St Clair’s Hospital’s Vice Chair of Administration. This will include quality improvement work for the department, attending administration meetings with the hospital, and creating the department schedule. The job officially begins on July 1st, but it was announced last week. Super congrats Jen. (A badass in and out of the box.)

LuRong Challenge begins on Monday; last weekend to binge. Or not. Maybe practice meal prepping. The workout will be announced on Monday; and as last time, we will meet on the following Saturday morning to begin at 8:00am to do the workout before the Free Community Class. Measurements and weigh-in sessions will take place Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon/evening. If you really can’t make either of those times, contact Anna to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Regional events are out. Check out to see what Anna will be doing over the weekend of Friday, 2 – Sunday, 4 June. https://games.crossfit.com/workouts/regionals/2017

***************************************

And talking about Regionals, if you ordered an #annasarmy Regionals shirt, they are at the gym ready for pick-up. They are $15 each; cash, cheque or charge, all work well.

****************************************

The CrossFit Games: If anyone is planning on going to the CrossFit Games at the beginning of August in Madison, WI, T2 CrossFit has purchased 8 tickets (Festival and Coliseum). If you would like to save yourself the hassle of trying to buy them during the lottery once Regionals start, let me know. The tickets are $225 each for the 3 days and for all areas of competition. It is quite an experience.

****************************************

Safety First: Running : please be courteous to the other road users. Keep to the side; be aware of people exiting from offices who are more than likely going to their cars, vehicle lights and movements; if a vehicle is moving, wanting to turn in front of you, be kind, take a breath and let them go ahead of you. Thank you.

****************************************

Practice outside the box: if or when the sun decides to shine again, there is now an area around the back of the box, the patio, which is matted with a 9’-10’ line painted on the wall. It is an additional area for practicing movements that require wall space – eg wall balls, handstands, handstand push ups etc. However, if you take equipment outside, please make sure to bring it back in once you are finished. Thank you.

****************************************

The auxiliary room is slowly taking shape with more mats being added and equipment positioned.

****************************************

Congratulations to the graduates from the recent Intro Class session: James Markovitz, Paige Stetson, Steve Markovitz, Mike Crognale, Gomathi, Thirumurugan Thalaimuthu and Manoj. Please make them welcome.

****************************************

Rowing Clinic Sunday 11 June @ 10:00am – open to all members but there is a cap of 24 so first come first served. See Anna to be added to the list.

****************************************

There was a pile of free firewood on the stones down at the garage end of the parking lot. If it is still there, please feel free to take some/all of it for your summer bonfires.

****************************************

FREE Adult Community class: 9:00am – all skill levels and athletic abilities welcome. If you are not sure, come anyway to check it out.

10:30am Members’ WOD

There are extra sweatshirts and sweatpants if you would like to treat yourself. Or even better ……

****************************************

….. heaven forbid you should forget, this Sunday is Mothers’ Day. Happy Day.

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe.
