fullsizerender-2We have said it before but we will say it again, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the WOD for Warriors last Saturday. You all made it such a wonderful experience. And in case you were wondering, on the galactic score sheet, T2 CrossFit raised the most money for our Veterans and as a group, we finished 4th overall on reps.

John Hanson and Ed Hurley finished 1st in their division, Whitney Flemming and Janelle Hoak finished 4th in their division, and Wade Roth and his partner, Steve Kaufman had a great time finishing 7th, and it was Wade’s first competition. Congratulations to all.

Check the board at the box for the Thanksgiving schedule.

fullsizerenderAs we come into this ‘season of giving’, T2 CrossFit has volunteered to join in with the South Fayette/Bridgeville Area Food Bank Families Toy Drive.

We will collect new, unwrapped toys for girls or boys aged 14 years and under. If you would like to donate a toy, we will have a collection tub out at the box during the week of Monday, 28th November – Saturday, 3rd December. Thank you in advance.

More details on our Winter Shindig.

We will get together on Saturday, 10th December between 1:00 and 3:30/4:00pm at the gym purely for a social gathering, no wodding clothes allowed. JK. There will be food provided but if you would like to bring a small sample of your favourite dish, savoury or sweet, to share that would be wonderful as well.

We would like to add a little extra fun to the proceedings by having a couple of ‘baskets’ to raffle. If you know a business that, or a person who might donate a service or items, please let me, Joanna, or Dana Taylor Tecza know.  Or just speak with us at the box.

Our November Intro Class has just wrapped up this evening. All four graduates are now members of the T2 CrossFit community. Please, if you see them, say ‘welcome’ and help them if they look a little lost.

Carlie Hetland, Paige Hetland, Dan CiCio, Satish Shetty. Welcome to you all.

T2 Kids, Pre-Teens & Teens: still November; still ‘bring a friend’ month.

fullsizerender1Soup. I love soup. Particularly home made soup. I can make soup out of any left overs. But I think my favourite soup is Butternut Squash Soup. I have only used one recipe although I know there are many out there. This is the one I use from ‘Make It Paleo’ by Bill Staley and Hayley Mason.

Ingredients: 1 onion, chopped; 2 tbsp coconut oil; 1 tsp cinnamon; ½ tsp ground nutmeg; 1 tsp salt; 1 medium butternut squash, peeled and chopped; 1 quart chicken stock (though I have used vegetable broth as well)

1. Saute chopped onion in coconut oil in a large pot.

2. Add in cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

3. Add chopped butternut squash to pot, and pour in broth.

4. Boil the butternut squash in the broth until tender.

5. Puree soup in a food processor or high-speed blender until smooth.

6. Garnish with a sprinkling of cinnamon and chopped walnuts. (You could, if you wished, sprinkle with crumbled bacon.)
