Have you ever walked into a gym for your complimentary ‘try’ and just stared at all the machines, free weights, schedule of different classes and thought, “OK, I really don’t know what to do, what will be best for me, I don’t know how to use the machines, I think I’ll just go home”? I know I have. You took that first step to make a change, you’d plucked up the courage and now, you feel really deflated.

Don’t worry. You are not alone. We’ve got you covered. CrossFit and T2 Fitness classes are already programed; there is no guessing. And they will be right for you. You don’t have to think about what to do. The coach is waiting to welcome you and put you at ease. The coach (and the members) will support you through the class and help you feel comfortable with all the movements. There is no “deer in the headlights” feeling because we’ve all been there so know what you need; we all want you to have fun and succeed by finding what is right for you – CrossFit, SWEAT, Cycle, Row Zone! Small classes, large classes or even one-on-one. Just ask.

There are many CrossFit related stories of success out there on the internet and in our own gym. I have highlighted several over the past few months – people who have overcome major health issues, mobility issues, even depression and addiction issues. The common factor in all of these stories though, is that all these people decided for themselves that ‘today is the day I am going to change my life for the better’. They made the change. They did the doing.

Today’s Fun/Trivia:

*When people start training as a result of a New Year’s Resolution, 60% have quit by Valentine’s Day. (a good reason to start now)

*Men tend to overestimate their strength while women tend to underestimate their strength.

*There is no evidence to support the argument that machines are safer than free weights, according to studies.

*To determine if your scale is correct, set a dumbbell or a weight plate on it. If the numbers don’t match, try another weight and see if it’s off by the same amount. Adjust your scale accordingly. (especially relevant at this time of year)
