Core! T2 CrossFit is sending a team to Regionals. Core! that’s fantastic. Core! I hope they do well; I’m really rooting for them. Sometime we Brits use ‘core’ as an exclamation of wonder and/or excitement.

However, dictionary definitions of ‘core’ all refer to ‘core’ as the central part, the middle, the hard center, the most important bit. Which brings me nicely to this week’s thought.

It’s no good having really strong biceps unless you have strong shoulders to support the biceps. And a strong upper back and chest to support the shoulders. Oh, and strong lower back and abs to support the upper parts. And a strong base on which to sit all that – oh yes, your glutes, hamstrings and quads.

(From the dictionary: “the muscles of the torso, especially the lower back and abdominal area, which assist in the maintenance of good posture, balance, etc.

“nothing will strengthen your core like balancing a heavy barbell on your back or lifting one off the floor”.)

We all know that Team T2 members have strong cores. We work regularly to strengthen our own cores to help us lift and move weights and objects and to stay injury-free.

But have you ever thought, just as we work individually on our own core, how we work daily on our core as a community. It’s what makes T2 strong. It’s what motivates us to go to the gym even when we really would rather be doing something else. It’s the support offered by others to help you through the worst. It’s what encourages our team, Anna, Janelle, John, Ed and Christian to push themselves beyond their perceived limits to get that extra rep. It is, as the dictionary also says: “the part of something that is central to its existence or character”.

Thank you everyone for being the strong core of T2.

How to watch the Regionals? As far as I am aware, ‘how to watch’ should be found on the CrossFit Games page (https://games.crossfit.com/regionals). From this page, you should, as the weekend comes around, be able to find links to the heats schedule/times when T2 will be competing, the actual workouts they will be doing, the leaderboard, and hopefully, links to be able to watch. You should also be able to watch some of it from the CrossFit Games Facebook Live App. Failing all that, I am sure someone from T2 who is going to the event will stream T2’s events live or at least give running commentary on the Discussion Page. I do know that the teams compete in the morning, starting around 9am.

As more info comes available, I will do my best to post it on the T2 Facebook page and the Discussion Group page and maybe Instagram.

9:00am Saturday Community Class (Free – as many times as you want). This Saturday, come and meet our special community and coaches, and try a workout too. And the best thing, apart from the class being FREE, you don’t need any CrossFit experience. In fact, you don’t need any experience.
