Happy Mothers’ Day

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon last Sunday. I hope you have recovered from your exertions. If you ran your first marathon, super congratulations.

Shame about the Penguins but what about those Pirates. Speaking of baseball, T2’s new baseball-style shirts are in. Check them out – grey or blue sleeves – in the gym now.

And orders need to be in by Saturday if you would like a Regionals Team Support Shirt (funds go to the team to help offset some of the costs while representing T2 in the Atlantic Region – thanks Ben Hall). There will be no second order. Sign up sheet is next to the computer.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the 10 Fundamentals of CrossFit – accuracy, agility, balance, coordination, endurance, flexibility, power, speed, stamina, strength – and how a little bit of all of these helps to keeps us mere mortals moving in a safe and injury-free way. If one chooses to compete in CrossFit the sport, then one would have to take these fundamentals to the next level and beyond.

If one participates in other sports, eg running (ask those who trained for the marathon), cycling, it would appear that there is research emerging to show that the type of training CrossFit offers is also beneficial for these and other sports. I found this article interesting reading:

“WOD for Watts: Can CrossFit Make A Difference On A Bike?”

I wish I had known about CrossFit when I was participating in triathlons; I know (after the fact) that my improved upper body strength helps with swimming.

CrossFit Specialty Course: Weightlifting 14-15 July 2018 @ T2 CrossFit. The course is designed to teach a coach how to more thoroughly, the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. However, even if you are not a coach but want to improve your own Olympic lifts, this is a great course to take as it breaks down each lift into its tiny components.
